On Gurktal Straße in the municipality of Himmelberg (Carinthia), a serious traffic accident occurred early Friday morning after a 17-year-old from Feldkirch overtook despite the restricted line.
The 17-year-old driver was on Gurktal Straße coming from Feldkirchen towards Weitensfeld around 05:30 on Friday when he started overtaking in the Kaidern area on a slight right turn and despite the closed line. “At that moment, a 57-year-old from Feldkirchner approached him with his van and the two vehicles collided head-on,” said a police officer.
The 17-year-old had to be flown to the Klagenfurt clinic with serious injuries by the rescue helicopter “C11”. The 57-year-old also suffered serious injuries and was admitted to UKH Klagenfurt.
The rescue work was carried out by the volunteer fire brigades Feldkirchen, Himmelberg and Steuerberg with a total of 53 men.
