The government of Ukraine has decided that mandatory evacuation of the Donetsk region, in the east of the country, which has been targeted by heavy military attacks of the armed conflict.
In a speech broadcast on the presidential Telegram channel on Saturday evening, Zelensky asked residents who have not yet done so to make the decision for themselves to evacuate Donetsk, assuring them that they would have full helpboth logistically and financially.
“Believe me. The sooner they do it, the more people leave the Donetsk region now, the less time the Russian military will have to kill people,” he stressed, admitting that there are still “hundreds of thousands of people, tens of thousands of children, of whom many refuse to leave.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of Donetsk’s military administration, reported on Saturday that a total of 662 people have been killed in the region as a result of Russian attacks and another 1,711 were injured in the past month.
Kiev has the . reported murder in an attack on 50 Ukrainian prisoners in a prison in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic in the city of Yelenovka (aka Olenivka in Ukrainian), while Moscow vehemently denies it. and blames Ukraine for the attack.
