After a storm in Tyrol – the pastor remains missing, no further search

Date:

On Sunday, water rescue services, fire brigade and police in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley were looking for pastor Augustin (60), who has been missing since the heavy storm of 22 July. Again the operation failed. Further searches are – for the time being – not planned.

There has often been a feverish search for the pastor, and the emergency services tried again on Sunday. From 07:30 to 13:30, the water rescue service, fire brigade and police carefully searched the Ruetz River and its banks.

“A body dog was also used by the executive branch,” said Konrad Kirchebner of the Krone water rescue service. But all attempts to find Reverend Augustin were again in vain.

According to Kirchebener, only an agricultural trailer, several wreckage and assignable items of clothing were found. No further search is planned for the time being.

Wreck, Bible and documents discovered
Sitting in his car on the day of the storm, the pastor was probably swept away by the flooding. Some of the wreckage was found in the river the next day, and later private items such as a bible, business cards and documents were also found.

The diocese of Innsbruck, especially Bishop Hermann Glettler, called for prayer for the pastor on social media at the time.
