Russian troops are said to have fired again at a medical facility in Ukraine. This time, a hospital in Mykolayiv would have been hit. Photos of ruined treatment rooms with splinters and debris are circulating on social media.
The southern region of Mykolaiv was heavily shelled on Monday night – again many civilian buildings are said to have been hit. A trauma center of a hospital was badly hit, among other things. At least three people were injured in the attacks, but no deaths have been reported so far, the head of Mykolaiv’s regional military administration, Vitaly Kim, said according to CNN.
Mayor calls hospital attack ‘cynical’
“Currently, private homes and yards are known to have been damaged,” Kim said. “The trauma center of one of the hospitals was also destroyed, four buildings and an ambulance were damaged and windows were smashed,” Kim said. Also the mayor of Mykolayiv confirmed the attack on the hospital. “Tonight Russian terrorists fired cynically at a number of civilian objects in Mykolaiv. One of them is our modern, brand new trauma center,” says Oleksandr Senkevych.
The blast also shattered the windows of nearby medical wards. Fortunately, neither health workers nor patients were injured. The trauma center only opened in 2019 and is one of the most modern in Ukraine, the mayor continued.
