Five arson attacks in eight hours: A detonator tyrannized a multi-party building in Steyr – there’s fear now.
The fire brigade had to extinguish a total of five fires in Steyr on Monday – all at the same address. The unusual reason: a hitherto unknown assailant repeatedly set fire to the apartment building at 1 Keplerstrasse between 13:10 and 21:10.
The arsonist tried three times to set fire to mailboxes with paper. But that is not everything. Attempts were also made to set fire to the contents of three waste containers. Residents discovered the flames and alerted the fire brigade. In two cases, however, the flashing lights themselves used the fire extinguisher to prevent worse.
“Young children live there too”
The “Krone” was on site and spoke to those affected in the apartment building. Some are in any case afraid: Eva G. says in an interview: “There are also small children living there, it is terrible.” The shocked woman says: “I’m not sure if I would hear anything about myself. You don’t dare to sleep really deep anymore.”
A 63-year-old lady who also lives in the settlement and wishes to remain anonymous, reacts a little more calmly: “You don’t know whether the perpetrator is young or old. I have met such strange people here, nothing surprises me and I am no longer afraid. ” An elderly neighbor from the neighborhood assessed the situation in a similar way: “I slept all the time that happened yesterday, but I’m not afraid.”
