A former snack bar owner in Innsbruck apparently didn’t take the rules too seriously: The Hungarian would only have registered his 11 employees for Social Security as part-time workers, but let them toil a lot more. In turn, the employees could continue to receive unemployment benefits. The damage: about 40,000 euros.
The marginal income limit in Austria is just under 500 euros. However, the former manager of snack bar Innsbruck employed his employees much more. As a result of this “deceptive behaviour”, the suspect withheld more than 15,000 euros in social security contributions from the Austrian health insurance fund (ÖGK).
25,000 euros unemployment benefit
But that’s not all: the Hungarian also ensured that his eleven employees could continue to receive unemployment benefits from the AMS. After all, we are talking about a total of about 25,000 euros.
Boss and ex-employee reported
The man was reported to the Innsbruck prosecutor’s office. Just like his former employees, who allegedly kept their actual employment relationship a secret.
