There was a lot of enthusiasm about a children’s offer including an overnight stay for 120 euros in the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo. A post on social media – the “Krone” reported – sparked discussions. Director André Stadler shows little understanding for this.
“An animal night in the Alpenzoo” – this was the motto of the offer for children. “Make us some bedtime treats for some zoo animals and let’s see what the animals are up to at night. Then barbecue, play games, tell animal stories and spend the night with the fish in the aquarium. Very early in the morning we will prepare breakfast for hungry mouths and then we will have a morning snack,” it said beforehand.
For the well-known Innsbruck comedian Markus Koschuh “incomprehensible” – in a negative sense. The reason was the price. For the adventure, 120 euros per child had to be paid. Koschuh vented his anger on Facebook. “In times when many families are flipping every dollar twice, a strong piece and a slap in the face for many parents who want to make this possible for their children but simply can’t for the price,” he wrote.
Director: “Need to think about profitability”
Stadler admits the cost of the event, but the reasons for the prize are financial: “The event was a new idea. There is an overnight stay and there must also be employees. So at first glance it seems more expensive, but I also have to think about cost-effectiveness.” He also refers to the discounts on membership of associations and similar institutions.
