A 12-year-old wandering a country road in the US state of Alabama has put police on the trail of a kidnapper and likely a murderer. He kept the girl tied to her bed in his house for over a week. But the minor was able to bite through her shackles and escape her tormentor. The 37-year-old was arrested a short time later. At his home, researchers made a horrific discovery.
During the search, the police found the dismembered bodies of a woman and a boy. According to American media, it concerns the mother and brother of the twelve-year-olds. According to initial investigations, the 37-year-old choked the woman with a pillow on July 24 and then killed the boy. In addition to injuries to her wrists, the girl also had injuries to her head.
The kidnapper continuously gave the 12-year-old alcohol while she was in captivity to calm her down, Sheriff Jimmy Abbett said at a news conference Tuesday. He called the girl a “heroine.” The lead investigator gave few details about the 12-year-old, but assured that she is now well. “She’s safe and we’ll keep it that way.”
Investigating against other people?
According to the sheriff, there were other people in the property at the time the house was searched. However, it is unclear whether they are also being investigated. The 37-year-old has reported double murder, disturbing the peace of the dead and kidnapping, the man is in custody. According to NBC News, the mother of the two children and the suspect were a couple.
