Serious traffic accident Tuesday afternoon in Tyrol! An 18-year-old drove her car off the road in Achensee Strasse for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into a tunnel portal. The driver, who was alone in the car, was seriously injured.
The young woman was on her way from Achenkirch to Maurach around 5:30 PM. “In the area of the Achensee tunnel, the vehicle left the road for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into the northern tunnel portal,” police said.
The 18-year-old was trapped in the car and suffered serious injuries. The alarmed volunteer fire brigade Achenkirch and Achenwald freed the driver from the wreckage with mountain shears. After receiving first aid from an emergency doctor, the woman flew to the university clinic in Innsbruck in the emergency doctor’s helicopter.
