More than 500 missions – Berlin: Death and injured after serious storms

Violent wind gusts of paralyzed train traffic in the German capital Berlin and the important railway line to Hamburg on Monday. At least one person died when a tree fell on a car.

Fallen trees, blocked streets: The Berlin fire brigade was constantly used on Monday. There were more than 500 missions, a spokesperson said. At least three people were injured life threatening, all by fallen trees.

It is said that the fatality is a woman killed by a tree in her car in the north of Berlin, the “BZ” reports.

Train traffic got stuck
Train traffic was stopped in the S-Bahn network, as the Berlin S-Bahn announced. Around 9.30 pm two S-Bahn lines only rode to a limited extent again. Many travelers also held on to the important railway line between Berlin and Hamburg, and the first trains are now going again. However, there are still delays to be expected.

Berlin has been hit across the board
The city is struck by the storm throughout the country, as a spokesperson for the Berlin Fire Brigade described. Some paths and streets were not passable.

Cyclists and pedestrians had tried to get to safety during the storm. Some people collapsed, others sought protection under entrances when branches flew over streets and paths.
