The VW Diesel scandal is also used for ten years after it has flown, the domestic courts are working. The Consumer Protection Association (VSV) has submitted a new Class Action right case and wants to dispute a total fee of a maximum of 1.2 billion euros.
The VSV said there was no financial risk with participation in the court case. The affected would only have to register on www.diesellecht.at.
It’s about the EA189 diesel engine
The VSV notes that it is the last option to enforce claims without risk. The EA189 diesel engine was built into diesel vehicles of the VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda brands in the model years 2008 to 2015.
Restriction threatens
Due to a judgment of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) three years ago, claims could be time. Only under certain circumstances, according to a decision of the Supreme Court (OGH) of January 2022, is there a chance that claims will only be after 30 years.
VKI rode 23 million euros in the previous year
“Owners of a car with the EA189 diesel engine must therefore be able to participate in the remedial situation,” says VSV chairman Daniela Holzinger-Vogtenhuber. In October 2024, the Association for Consumer Information (VKI) agreed to VW in around 10,000 cases with VW and negotiated a total of 23 million euros in compensation.
