A blatant case of undeclared work and thus tax fraud has now been discovered in Kitzbühel in Tyrol, which astonished even experienced financial police officers.
Close investigations were carried out for months after clues were found. Suspicion of illegal commercial practices on a large scale was substantiated day by day. The “professional bungler” worked for years in the construction and construction-related trade, offering his “customers” comprehensive services. However, he did not have a tax number and was not insured himself.
“No trivial offense”
“Illegal work is not a trivial offence. Not only the perpetrators, but also their customers are prosecuted and have to take reports and fines into account,” Finance Minister Magnus Brunner (ÖVP) warns against the temptation of apparently cheap construction contracts.
The person concerned now has to pay much more than 100,000 euros in taxes and social security. In addition, there is of course a hefty fine.
