Hate on the Net Degenerates – Kellermayr Case: Host Boss Protects Police

Date:

What the late doctor Lisa-Maria Kellermayr already wrote, is now confirmed by Gastro chairman Mario Pulker: he too had been a victim of murder announcements – and the public prosecutor also closed the case against him.

Since January 1, 2021, the Hate on the Net Act to protect against threats has been in effect. However, this should not have reached the state prosecutor’s office. Doctor Kellermayr committed suicide a week ago because she could no longer bear the hatred.

Now Mario Pulker, division president of the Gastronomy Association, is joining the debate. His daily life is also overshadowed by death threats, he says of the “Krone” – and he sees the failure here very clearly in the judiciary.

The police helped me a lot
His approval of the mandatory vaccination had sparked a wave of phone calls, messages and messages insulting and threatening him. One “fan” stood out as particularly intense. “The police have really done an excellent job here,” praises Pulker. After weeks, officials found the person responsible. Pulker was under police protection at all times, but only during public engagements. Otherwise, like Dr. Kellermayr, he paid a private security service.

Proceedings discontinued despite criminal record
Then the big surprise: the case was closed by the public prosecutor of Vienna. The man had a criminal record! “If someone isn’t actually killed, nothing will happen!” says the division chairman indignantly. Of course he can file a civil lawsuit, but he doesn’t want money: “I want the judiciary to take criminal action against this hatred and threats!”

Because she would be the real problem, not the police, and the lack of investigations, which have been sharply criticized in the Lisa-Maria Kellermayr case in particular: “Even if the police caught the person responsible, the prosecution would, as with me”, so.

Expert: Allegations of stalking would have sufficed
The public prosecutor’s office in Wels can no longer do that after the public outcry. If you wanted to deport the case to Germany – the country of origin of the famous author of the death threats – the tragic suicide of the doctor makes the prosecution in Upper Austria responsible. Criminal law professor Ingeborg Zerbes criticizes that it used to be the case: you only had to report stalking.

So someone had to commit such a desperate act for justice to take action – despite the legal paragraph against hate on the internet.
