“You will see what will happen to the girls”, “I will take what you love the most”. The men who uttered these words and other similar intentions soon ended the lives of their children. These are some of the threats compiled by the First Extreme Deputy Violence Survey, which analyzes 50 cases of juvenile homicide since 2000 to the detriment of mothers. In 82% of cases, the aggressor was the biological father. One and a half children were under their exclusive supervision: 44% during the visit and 4% during joint custody.

This is some of the data published in the report Deputy Violence. Irreversible blow against mothers, Coordinated by the Association of Women in Feminist Psychology with support from the Andalusian Junta Ministry of Equality. Of the 400 juveniles killed by fathers or partners of the mother, the study found that 50 corresponded to the so-called vicarious violence, a term coined by psychologist Sonia Vakaro, the lead author of the analysis. “It is a form of gender-based violence that forces girls and boys to continue to mistreat and abuse women,” she said.

The survey identified the main characteristics of the aggressors and the circumstances in which the crime took place: 72% are between the ages of 30 and 50 and more than half, 58%, have no criminal record, compared to 26% who have. No data on the rest). Six out of ten of the latter are on sex-related violence offenses. In 60% of cases, there was a direct threat to the woman or children. In one of them, the woman says that she did not hear him directly, but the person who accompanied them to deliver the minor to the father heard him say “Goodbye, because you will not see him again.” As for the injured, 64% under five years old and 27% under ten years old.

As for the moment when these murders took place, the report emphasizes that in 44% of the cases the aggressor was killed during the juvenile dating regime, and in 4% during the total detention. In 18% during certain cohabitation situations, mainly when she was caring for her children and the mother was away from home, and in another 18% during or after a quarrel. In 10% of cases, the aggressor fails to comply with the agreed visit regime for the murder. In addition, 30% of the aggressors committed suicide after the crime and 18% tried to do so.

“Gender-based violence is worst when the aggressor decides to do the worst harm to the mother, take the child’s life and condemn the continuation of breathing,” said a spokesman for the mother, whose ten-year-old son. Killed last week in Sueca. The case has already been seen in the statistics of juveniles killed, which has risen to 47 since 2013. However, the authors of the study distinguish this category from deputy violence. “These are murders in the context of gender-based violence. Not all of them are alternate violence. We have studied 50 of the analyzes one by one and in this we will reveal Condition sine qua non “The intention to harm the mother has become clear,” Vakaro said.

According to researchers, reciprocal violence occurs when abusers are “unable to access a woman to maintain power and control over her,” either because she is isolated or because there are protection measures. For this reason, “they abuse their sons and daughters, whom they take as an object to harm them.”

The study also reveals that, as is usually the case with this type of violence, most victims have not been told about it before. Although 74% of the cases indicated in the proposals or in the newspaper library that there had been a situation of sexist violence before, only 24% had filed a complaint. In ten out of 50 cases, the authorities warned to some extent about the risk of letting their sons or daughters go. “In none of the cases analyzed have protection measures been imposed on girls or boys,” said the report, which included cases such as Angela Gonzalez Carenio, for whom the UN condemned Spain or the Prattis that the state. Acknowledged “global failure.”

The report assesses how much of them divorce or non-separation by the aggressor may be one of the reasons for the fact, which the researchers found in 52% of cases.

The investigation emphasizes that juvenile homicide is the most extreme manifestation of violence, but it is not the only one and can be directed against other people in the environment or pets. In one case of the specimen, in fact, the aggressor, in addition to killing the victim’s child, killed the mother and father; In another, one of the brothers lost his life. Over the years, no cases have been reported in 2007 and 2009 alone, the report warns.
