“Leftist Gender Theory” – Trump Calls For Abolition Of The Department Of Education

Date:

In the debate over sex education in schools, former US President Donald Trump made a drastic demand: he proposed to abolish the entire Department of Education. The audience at a conference of right-wing conservatives then erupted in cheers. A culture war has broken out in the United States over issues of gender identity. Conservatives are trying to curtail the rights of the LGBTQI community. There should also be no “left-wing gender theory” in the military.

“You can’t teach the Bible, but you can teach kids that America is bad and that men can get pregnant,” Trump said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas, Texas. He called for a strict ban on teaching “inappropriate” content to school children.

The United States is currently experiencing a veritable culture war over issues of gender identity. Conservatives are trying to curtail the rights of the LGBTQI community. The English abbreviation stands for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, queers and intersex. Republicans have passed discriminatory laws in several states.

The subject of “sexual orientation” is taboo up to and including the third degree
Schools are also repeatedly targeted by conservatives – books that are said to be too suggestive or politically irrelevant are banned from the classroom. A Florida school law prohibits the topics of “sexual orientation or gender identity” from kindergarten through third grade and restricts it to older students.

Just a few weeks ago, Trump’s then-Secretary of Education made a statement similar to Trump’s. The Department of Education shouldn’t exist, Betsy Devos had said. During her reign, the billionaire entrepreneur from Michigan had mainly worked to reduce the influence of the department as much as possible.

When Trump brought up the topic of sexual identity and school, the crowd at the conference in Dallas went especially loud. “No teacher should be teaching our children about transgender issues without parental consent,” Trump said. There should also be no “left-wing gender theory” in the military, he added. “The world is too dangerous for the US armed forces to be politically correct. You see what is happening with China and Russia.”

Another demand: death penalty for drug dealers
As in the past, Trump spoke as the keynote speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference. It’s sort of a melting pot for Trump supporters, the religious right, and conspiracy theorists. In his two-hour speech to about 1,000 people, Trump repeated familiar things. He also received a lot of applause on topics such as migration or when he repeated his lie about electoral fraud. He again called for the death penalty for drug dealers.

Trump again flirted with running for president in the 2024 presidential election, but did not disclose his candidacy. “Now maybe we should do it again. Maybe we should do it again,” he said. Trump makes this statement in almost every speech – and gets a lot of applause for it. But he won’t be more specific. In an anonymous online poll by CPAC in Texas, 69 percent of respondents said Trump should participate again. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was a distant second with 24 percent.
