The Viennese Burgtheater appeals against Teichtmeister’s verdict and digs deep into its pockets…
The Burgtheater case against former actor Florian Teichtmeister is extended. The Haus am Ring appealed against the ruling of the Labor and Social Court: According to the twelve-page document, the costs for this amounted to 8,462 euros.
“The first court came to the conclusion in its judgment that the defendant unlawfully and culpably harmed the plaintiff. However, it wrongly limits the plaintiff’s claim to damages due to contributory negligence,” the legal representation of the Burgtheater writes in the appeal. The first court incorrectly assessed the legal situation in several ways. As reported, the Burgtheater was only awarded about 20,000 of the almost 100,000 euros requested in May.
No new negotiations
“I find it strange that the Burgtheater is questioning our constitutional state,” said Teichtmeister’s lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger, who reacted with surprise and then appealed himself: the claimed costs had not been adequately explained by the Burgtheater.
But there will be no new negotiations. The Higher Regional Court will make a written decision in a file procedure. This can take months.
