The spreading of slurry on a meadow in Leoben in Styria ended Sunday morning for a 28-year-old in hospital: the man from Upper Styria slipped with the tractor and slurry tank, and the team rolled over several times. The injured driver was able to free himself.
Accidents happen again and again when spreading slurry on sloping ground. So also on Sunday morning in Leoben. According to the police, the 28-year-old drove the tractor along with the filled manure tank over a sloping and undulating green area. He should have skidded the tractor.
By then it was probably too late, the driver could do nothing more: The tractor overturned several times together with the trailer and came to a stop about 200 meters away.
The 28-year-old managed to free himself from the tractor and contacted the owner of the property, who in turn set the rescue chain in motion. After first aid was given by the emergency room doctor, the 28-year-old was taken to the UKH Kalwang with unspecified injuries. The Leoben-Stadt fire brigade was deployed with about 20 people and four vehicles.
