Serious accident Sunday evening in the Tiroler Unterland: A Czech driver (35) came into the oncoming lane on Loferer Straße near Waidring and collided with the oncoming car of a German. Both drivers sustained serious injuries. The B178 had to be closed – traffic jams were the result.
The accident happened around 5.30pm: The Czech was on the B178 near Waidring when for unknown reasons he suddenly came into contact with the oncoming lane. The oncoming 57-year-old German was unable to react – the two vehicles collided sideways.
Injured drivers taken to hospital
“On the other hand, two motorists driving behind the German were able to avoid in time and thus prevent further collisions,” the police said. The two people involved in the accident suffered serious injuries. After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, they were taken to the hospital of St. Johann in Tirol.
Both vehicles were severely damaged in the accident. The main road had to be completely closed for about half an hour in the vicinity of the accident site. As a result, there were backlogs.
