On the Zillertaler Höhenstraße near Kaltenbach on Sunday afternoon, a 43-year-old with his e-bike came off the road for unknown reasons and fell about 25 meters into a steep forest area. The neighbor was seriously injured in the accident.
The accident happened just before 5 p.m. The cyclist ran off the road and plunged about 25 meters into the forest. “It came to a stop in a group of trees,” police said. While his colleague would not have noticed the crash, two women sounded the alarm in a next car.
Flown to the Innsbruck clinic
After the emergency, the patient was rescued by the mountain rescue service and the Kaltenbach volunteer fire brigade using a basket stretcher and winch. The man was then seriously injured by the emergency helicopter Heli 3 to be flown to the clinic in Innsbruck. The fire brigade also removed the victim’s e-bike from the site.
