This is not how you imagine a holiday in Carinthia: During a kayak trip, a family of holidaymakers came to the Weissensee in need. Their boat filled with water and threatened to sink.
Strong winds and increasing waves caused the incident at Lake Weissensee: A family suddenly found themselves in distress when their kayak kept filling up with water and starting to sink. Other holidaymakers quickly arrived with their boats and were able to help – the Weissensee volunteer fire brigade also departed from Techendorf!
“Holiday-goers have been shocked”
“When I arrived at the capsized kayak, my parents were already in the water wearing life jackets. Her son had managed to climb onto the boat of the other holidaymakers,” said Krone firefighter Rene Finniger. No one was injured in the incident, but: “The holidaymakers received a shock.”
They were brought to the east bank by the fire brigade and the flooded kayak was also towed away.
