A 24-year-old Serb had to answer to a regional court in Klagenfurt on Thursday. In September 2021, he attacked a well-known Carinthian contractor and seriously injured him. Verdict: 3.5 years in prison and 30,000 euros partial compensation to the victim.
What prompted the 24-year-old trained martial artist to intervene on September 8, 2021 could not be fully clarified on Thursday. According to the suspect, the Carinthian entrepreneur owed the Serbian money for his employees. What is certain is that the 24-year-old knocked the entrepreneur unconscious with a well-aimed and skillful blow and that he suffered serious injuries in the fall.
“I didn’t want any of that, I’m very sorry!”, the Serb defended himself before Judge Christian Liebhauser-Karl, who found no mitigating grounds for the conviction: “There was no penitent confession.”
The 24-year-old was therefore sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. The verdict is not final.
