The police are working on a serious accident in the Ausserfern region in Tyrol on Friday evening. A motorist had gone off the road in Lermoos with a rental car and ended up in the adjacent forest. The convertible was completely scrapped. The identity of the seriously injured driver is not yet known. The automatic emergency call system sounded the alarm.
The fatal accident happened around 2:30 a.m. The currently unknown driver was driving the BMW convertible on Ehrwalder Straße from Garmisch towards Lermoos when he suddenly ran off the road and fell over the embankment.
Several trees uprooted
“The rental car has blown down several trees. The driver was seriously injured,” said the police. The car’s automatic emergency call system alerted emergency services.
It is not yet clear who the driver is. The investigation is ongoing, the organization said. The seriously injured man was taken by ambulance to Garmisch-Partenkirchen hospital. The BMW convertible was a total loss.
