The fire brigade in Lower Austria was called on Thursday: A piece of forest had started to burn on the Wolfsbergkogel in the Neunkirchen district. The fire is believed to have been started by an illegally lit campfire. Now the police are looking for the perpetrators.
According to the police, despite the forest fire ordinance in force, the strangers probably lit a barbecue near the “20-Schilling-Blick” on Wednesday evening, using logs they brought. Then they may have put out the fire and spent the night in this area. The morning after, “a fire probably broke out around the fireplace, causing the unknown perpetrators to flee the sleeping place,” it said.
Witnesses noticed the fire and raised the alarm, emergency services extinguished the fire with water buses brought along.
The police are now requesting information about the perpetrators under the number 059133-3359.
