A young goat in the animal paradise Schabenreith in Steinbach am Ziehberg was baptized “Aqua”. She was rescued from the Steyrling. The animal suffered a bilateral pelvic fracture when it fell into the stream. Now “Aqua” is receiving physiotherapy.
The young goat crashed into the Steyrling in Klaus on the Pyhrnbahn. The helpless animal was discovered on the evening of August 3 by observant passers-by, who immediately notified the animal rescue team of Tierparadies Schabenreith. The brave animal lovers also managed to rescue the young animal from the water. Harald Hofner of Tierparadies says: “The little one was in excruciating pain, was in shock and was completely hypothermic.”
It was therefore immediately the turn of veterinarian Ursula Kimberger-Dorninger in Kirchdorf an der Krems. The X-ray showed a bilateral pelvic fracture. Since surgery is not possible, the goat is now receiving physiotherapy at the shelter.
Every hour her legs are massaged by the zookeepers and “Aqua” is gently lifted on her four legs. A first success is already visible after a few days, reports Doris Hofner-Foltin: “’Aqua’ can stand on its own. And she managed to get up without any help!”
The cause of the fall remains unclear
It remains unclear how the young goat fell into the river or if he was even thrown in — especially since goats are known for their climbing skills.
