The head of the American corona vaccine manufacturer Pfizer, Albert Bourla, says he has tested positive. The 60-year-old reports that he has very mild complaints. Bourla had been vaccinated four times with the vaccine developed by Pfizer and its German partner Biontech.
“I am confident that I will recover quickly,” said the manager. He has gone into isolation and is taking Pfizer’s antiviral drug Paxlovid.
Some corona patients have a relapse when taking the drug. That was the case, for example, with US President Joe Biden in late July, as White House physician Kevin O’Connor announced at the time. Paxlovid is used to treat patients at risk, such as the elderly. Biden is 79 years old.
