The diving operation by water rescue and the professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt came to a bad end on Monday evening: a holidaymaker could only be rescued from the Wörthersee dead.
Not much is known about the tragic case: a 44-year-old and her partner probably stood on the jetty of their hotel shortly before midnight on Monday. From there, the woman jumped into the water and a few minutes later her husband alerted emergency services. Several fire brigades and water rescue services have searched for the 44-year-old in the vicinity of the jetty. However, they did not find the native Peruvian living in Germany.
In action were:
- Water Rescue Krumpendorf
- Water Rescue Fields
- Water rescue Portschach
- Volunteer Fire Brigade Pörtschach
- Pritschitz Volunteer Fire Department
- Volunteer Fire Brigade Krumpendorf
“After the first surface search by the rescue boats, the professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt was alerted to support the diving operation,” says the Krumpendorf water rescue service. In the end, the divers discovered that the vacationer’s body was floating in the water – they retrieved the woman from a depth of 16 meters. An emergency doctor resuscitated her, but she died a short time later at the Klagenfurt clinic.
