The third Vice-President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, will start a new round of talks this Friday with key sectoral, social, political and civil society actors to gather proposals that will help Spain reduce its gas. . consumption to prepare the contingency plan that the government should send to Brussels.
The first of the meetings Ribera will hold will be with the CEO of Enagás, Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri, with whom he will meet this Friday from 9.30 am at the headquarters of the ministry, as reported by his department.
This round of talks is part of the draft contingency plan that the government must send to the European Commission as part of the Community strategy to deal with the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
The start of this ‘tour’ to collect proposals from companies in the sector and economic and social actors will take place a day after the Congressional plenary passes the energy saving decree, which will eventually be processed as a bill for the inclusion of some changes required by the government’s partners.
The decree, whose measures will be applied despite being processed as a bill, includes the first package of energy-saving measures planned to comply with the voluntary cut in gas consumption, given the risk of a supply interruption by Russia, as well as aid for the promotion of public transport such as free services of Cercanías, Rodalíes and Media Distancia from September 1 to the end of the year.
This energy saving plan, which is complemented by the design of the Disaster Plan, limits heating and cooling temperatures to 19 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively in government buildings, commercial establishments such as department stores or shopping centers, cultural spaces or transport infrastructures such as stations or airports. The standard excludes hospitals, educational centers, gyms, hairdressers or restaurant kitchens.
Likewise, it requires the lights of store windows and unoccupied public buildings to be turned off after 10pm and requires that before September 30, both buildings and buildings have automatic closures on entry doors to prevent them from being permanently open.
Commercial spaces, public buildings, cultural spaces and hotels that fail to comply with the government-approved energy savings and efficiency plan face fines of up to €60,000 for minor violations, up to €6 million for serious violations and up to €100 million for very serious violations. .
The same decree-law also contains new calls for support for the transport of goods by land, accelerates renewable energy and storage facilities and is considering the additional grant of 100 euros for all who receive grants and study aid, announced by the president of the government in the latest debate on the State of the Nation.
