Mobile phone contracts – “zero euro smartphones” are becoming rarer

Date:

If you opt for a mobile phone with a subscription, you will receive it ‘free’ in 22 percent of the cases, for the rest the surcharge has doubled from 360 to 720 euros in recent years.

According to the online platforms geizhals.at and tarife.at, Apple customers have to dig deep into their pockets. “The zero-euro mobile phone is becoming increasingly rare,” said Maximilian Schirmer, head of tarife.at.

Apple fans pay the most
If you buy your mobile phone and tariff from the mobile phone operator, you usually opt for more expensive models. With 840 euros, Apple customers are putting a lot of money on it. In comparison: devices from Samsung and OnePlus are relatively cheap at 299 euros. Honor and Xiaomi would be even lower with an average of 249 and 149 euros.

The most wanted model on geizhals.at since 2019 is the Samsung Galaxy A52 – a mid-range smartphone in the 300 euro class. This year, the Apple iPhone 13 led the way.
