Elon Musk continues on Twitter with his plans for a total renovation. The company sent an email to its employees on Thursday evening informing them that a drastic reduction in the number of employees will begin Friday morning, currently 7,500.
As the newspaper “The Washington Post” learned, the company recently acquired by tycoon Elon Musk will let its employees know at 9 a.m. local time (5 p.m. Spanish Peninsula time) whether they will stay in the company or not.
Specifically, those who keep their jobs are notified in the company email, while those who lose their jobs receive the information about their resignation through their personal email.
Until then, Twitter has temporarily closed its offices and suspended access to identity cards “to ensure the security of every employee, as well as Twitter’s systems and customer data.”
“Team, in an effort to put Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” reads the notification sent to Twitter employees.
“We recognize that this will affect several people who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but unfortunately this action is necessary to ensure the company’s future success,” he added, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
This is the company’s first official communication with its employees since Elon Musk bought the company on October 28, after which dozens of Twitter employees shared a blue heart on the social network as a sign of goodbye.
The billionaire plans to eliminate half of its Twitter workforce, in line with plans to cut the cost of the social media platform he bought for $44,000 million (a similar amount in euros), experts said by the agency. Bloomberg have been consulted.
