The public prosecutor in Genoa is investigating a 63-year-old Italian for murder with a racist background. He is said to have killed a 41-year-old Peruvian on a public road on Tuesday evening with a bow and arrow. The Peruvian had celebrated the birth of his son with a compatriot.
Apparently he disturbed the Italian’s sleep. He used a homemade bow to shoot the man from his apartment window. The arrow hit the South American and caused a serious liver injury. Doctors at San Martino Hospital tried to give the man a liver transplant, but failed. The Peruvian died while still on the operating table, doctors said.
Archer wanted to pull arrow out of victim
The perpetrator was arrested as he ran into the street and tried to pull the arrow from the victim’s body. The carabinieri confiscated three bows and 30 arrows from his apartment. The perpetrator told the military that he heard two people arguing loudly under his apartment and repeatedly asked them to stop. He says the two insulted him and threw objects at his window. According to witnesses, the Italian would have racially insulted the two Peruvians.
The workman threatened the two men with a bow to chase them away, but the Italian said they responded with more threats and insults. He then fired the arrow that mortally wounded the Peruvian. The mayor of Genoa spoke of an “absurd death”. The president of the Luguria region, Giovanni Toti, described the perpetrator on Twitter as a “crazy”.
