Negotiations on a new collective labor agreement in the retail sector will enter the fourth round on Tuesday. The focus is on higher salaries for approximately 430,000 employees and apprentices.
While employers are currently offering a four percent raise and a one-off payment, the union is demanding 10 percent higher salaries. Your representatives justify this with the high inflation. They don’t refuse one-off payments at all.
Starting salary of 1800 euros
Currently, the starting salary in retail is 1800 euros gross. The employer’s offer would mean 1900 euros gross or a learning income of 800 euros gross in the first year and 1280 euros in the third year. It is conceivable that the employers and the union meet in the middle. The social partners in the metalworking industry have agreed on an average increase in real wages of 7.4 percent.
Other concerns of the union, such as easier access to the sixth holiday week, have faded into the background in this year’s negotiations. The wish of employers for an open shopping Sunday in Advent will probably remain unfulfilled. The hearings begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
