Dia increases the salary of 15,000 employees between 8% and 12% until 2024

Supermarket chain Dia in Spain and the unions have just reached an agreement on the group’s new collective agreement, which envisages an 8% to 12% salary increase for nearly 15,000 of the company’s store and warehouse employees. In addition, the agreement also includes two additional bonuses linked to the results. The first costs 350 euros and benefits employees with a fixed annual salary of up to 23,847 euros. The second will be linked to the company’s results in 2024.

The agreement runs until the end of 2024 and guarantees a “historic” salary increase for 15,000 of the company’s employees in Spain. Dia España CEO Ricardo Álvarez thanked the staff for their “sacrifice, commitment, hard work and patience over the past three years that have been so difficult for the company.”

In addition, the agreement maintains Dia’s commitment to job stability, keeping the threshold of permanent contracts at a minimum of 85% of the global workforce. Another improvement for employees included in this V-CAO is the extension of the Flexible Remuneration Plan to all warehouse and store employees during 2023, as well as the possibility to enjoy the employee discount with any payment method.

With a network of nearly 3,000 stores in Spain, the signing of this new agreement, according to the company, supports confidence in Dia’s future project, which, after a thorough turnaround of its activities, is entering a phase of acceleration towards growth.

“We had to make many tough decisions, work hard and always believe in the recovery of the company through humility and good work. Thanks to this joint work, we have managed to get to today where we can deliver this historic salary increase for Dia in a responsible and sustainable way,” said Álvarez.
