The unions are intensifying their conflict, announcing a new general strike for the next day 22 and studying an indefinite strike
The conflict that the Labor Inspectorate is having with the government is increasing and instead of suspending their protests, they are announcing a new general strike for February 22, the third since last December, and suggest that they file a complaint against the executive power before the European Union authorities for violating the agreements reached and the “violation” of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in terms of collective bargaining. This was denounced on Monday by the eight convening unions in a statement to the media.
“The lack of understanding and distance we have observed on the part of the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy is not only an irresponsible attitude, it goes further, by revealing the instrumentalization carried out by the political leadership of this Ministry, of the efforts made by the Labor Inspectorate staff for their own benefit,” the unions write in the letter.
In addition, they accuse the ministries of finance and labor of conducting “hidden and shady negotiations” about the situation of the inspection that they do not know where they will lead. “At this point, we can assure that nothing discussed between the two ministries resembles the agreement passed at the time to remedy the shortcomings of the inspection. The result of these internal government discoveries will lead us to a disaster at the Labor Inspectorate and the consequences of this will become visible in the short term,” they warn.
For this reason, the trade unions do not rule out intensifying the proposals and are studying the call for an indefinite strike, although before reaching that point they will assess “a first intermediate step” to see the conflict “every week and even every day” display. ”
