From July 10, only people over the age of 18 can participate in raffles. This is intended to improve the protection of players and young people, according to the Austrian Lotteries. Lotto, EuroMillions, but also letter and scratch cards are affected.
This will mark another milestone in responsible gaming. It is a matter of “voluntary self-control”. Until now there was a limit of 16 years for Lotto, EuroMillions and the like.
The age limit of 18 years is not new in the industry. For example, it has always been a prerequisite to participate in the tipp3 sports betting program. You must also be of age for the class lotteries and the win2day online gaming site. From July 10, participation in lotteries is only allowed for adults.
Winnings are still paid out
Until then, 16 and 17-year-olds can still buy postcards and scratch cards, for example. Winning such tips and tickets will still be paid out after the deadline. However, it should be noted that the receipt purchase date is verified in such betting slips. In the case of postal and scratch cards, a win request must be submitted to the Austrian lotteries.
The Austrian Lotteries have been in existence since 1986 and have about 500 employees.
