After bankruptcy, the traditional Styrian winery is auctioned

Date:

Thousands of liters of white and red wine (including some rarities), wine barrels, shelves, glasses and all equipment, from the bottle filling system to the stainless steel tanks, are going under the hammer: After the bankruptcy last year, the traditional winery Domäne Müller from Groß St. Florian auctioned.

The Domäne Müller winery filed for bankruptcy in February 2022. Most recently, well-known investor Hans Kilger was also involved in the traditional company. Now the complete equipment of the winery – from the grape processing and vinification plant, the bottling room and corker, racking systems to stainless steel tanks and wine barrels – is going under the hammer.

According to auction house Aurena from Styria, the wine from the Müller domain that has not yet been bottled will also be auctioned: thousands of liters of white wine and red wine and wine barrels including Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 to Pinot Gris 2021. The total of about 3000 lots includes also grid boxes with hundreds of bottles of sparkling wine that are not yet labeled and or rarities. The international premium wines and spirits also include big names from Italy, California, Australia and especially France.

The furnishing of the offices, the sales and tasting room in Groß St. Florian, with wine and champagne coolers, glasses and carafes is also offered. Bidding is already possible, the auctions themselves will take place on 22 and 29 June and on 6 July.

Insolvency after almost 90 years
The origins of the winery in Groß St. Florian date back to 1936. White wine, red wine and sweet wine have recently been produced on more than 30 hectares. The company also traded in international premium wines and spirits. Bankruptcy was filed in 2022 for reasons including shrinking margins and the consequences of the corona pandemic.
