The rush to the Waldviertel Kika branch caused traffic jams of up to 30 minutes from the city center to the shopping center on window day. Eyewitnesses and the branch manager, who mainly worked ‘at the front’ in the sales area, describe how this was also experienced in the branch in Horn.
The bankruptcy of Kika/Leiner hits the masses – in the truest sense of the word, on Friday in Horn. According to eyewitnesses, endless queues of cars moved from the EKZ area – where the Kika branch is located nearby – to beyond the city center in the morning. For the two-kilometer route, traffic jams of up to 30 minutes had to be accepted.
Fixed fire brigade had to recover e-car
The recovery of an e-car by the city fire brigade, which is currently organizing its festival, was just the icing on the cake and caused even more delay. “It was a long wait,” the police confirm. However, additional traffic regulation was not necessary.
Understanding crowds
Branch manager Martina Adlassnig, who reached the “Krone” in a short break before having to “go forward” into the sales rooms herself, reports a massive influx of customers who were mostly understanding. Because in the afternoon, queues of customers stood at the cash register right through the enormous building. A customer reported waiting two hours at the checkout – she then left the store without (the last) purchase.
