Anyone who tried to access Facebook on Friday night may have noticed a glitch. Thousands of reports of issues with the Meta platform have been received since 9 p.m.
According to Reuters, 12,000 users reported problems with Facebook, significantly fewer (6,600) reports related to Instagram. WhatsApp, another meta service, had problems 1,300 times. The corresponding reports began at 9 p.m. Affected are users from several countries, including Austria and Switzerland.
According to them, the services could in principle still be used, but some failed. On social media, users reported that they were unable to access messages in their mailbox on Instagram. In addition, it is not possible to post, send messages or change the profile picture (see tweet above). WhatsApp sometimes failed to send voice messages. According to “Focus”, Instagram mainly had problems with the app, while Facebook mainly suffered with the website.
The cause was initially unclear. Some social media users sarcastically commented that at least services like Twitter would still work, and yes, there could be a switch to other platforms like Signal.
