An extraordinary working meeting of Austrian Airlines (AUA) will lead to a number of flight cancellations on Thursday. The “Krone” has learned from informed circles that 110 connections have been affected. 9,000 passengers must be rebooked as much as possible.
The meeting led to 150 cancellations last Friday, but was then postponed to Thursday at 10 a.m. Passengers should now check their flight status.
Theoretically, there are 304 flights in the AUA schedule for Thursday, which means carrying 31,000 passengers. This threatens to cause enormous economic damage again. The AUA considers the planned work meeting to be unlawful and is taking legal action against it.
Stalled negotiations
The reason for the company consultation is the stalled collective labor agreement negotiations with the AUA on-board staff.
Ideas for a salary increase differ greatly between employers and employees. Employers offer a plus of 4.5 percent and promise more if the term is longer. The union, on the other hand, demands 30 percent more salary and more vacation days and other things.
