According to a newspaper report, new Twitter boss Linda Yaccarino is planning a series of measures to win back advertisers who left under predecessor and owner Elon Musk. This includes the introduction of a video advertising service, more celebrity collaborations and an increase in staff at the short message service, the Financial Times wrote Wednesday.
Users should therefore see full-screen ads with sound when scrolling through a new short video feed, the paper reports, citing three people familiar with the matter. Twitter is also in talks about an expanded partnership with Google, including advertising and access to some Twitter data. Existing contracts with technology companies such as Amazon, Salesforce and IBM are being extended to broader partnerships. Twitter did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Since Musk came to power at Twitter, he has transformed the social media platform at breakneck speed. There were massive layoffs and heavy criticism for what was seen as lax content moderation and a significant drop in advertisers. Advertisers were concerned that their ads would appear next to inappropriate content, so they stopped their ads.
