Prices continue to rise across the board. For food, they rose by no less than 12 percent in May, significantly more than the average price increase of 9 percent. Also for products that used to be cheap, more and more have to be paid.
The Chamber of Labor criticizes the fact that there are sharp price increases, even for branded products that are already more expensive. The AK price monitor shows that prices have risen in both the food and drug stores and the web shops.
Partial increase of 300 percent!
A cheap pizza now costs almost twice as much as in June of the previous year, cheap apricot jam for pancakes is almost 123 percent more expensive than in 2022. In the case of a cheap nail polish remover and a hair conditioner, the Chamber of Labor ruled that an increase of about 300 percent. But branded products such as Wiener Zucker from Agrana (+61 percent) or Ölz-Toast (+31 percent) were again more expensive than last year.
Cheapest goods not available
In Müller’s online store, the cheapest drugstore items were often not available, criticized AK consumer lawyer Gabriele Zgubic. “Consumers can then only buy a significantly more expensive branded product,” said Zgubic on Tuesday according to a broadcast.
In June, AK sold the cheapest drugstore, food and cleaning supplies, as well as branded drugstore and branded food.
