Focus on e-mobility – Miba expands its factory in Styria: 40 new jobs!

Date:

A doubling of the factory area, an investment of 15 million euros, 40 new jobs: The Miba factory in Kirchbach-Zerlach in South-East Styria – which is operated under the brand “EBG” – is being significantly expanded. The main reason: the booming market for electric mobility.

Whether vehicles such as buses and trains, medical devices or measurement technology: Power and high-voltage resistors, which are produced in Kirchbach-Zerlach under the brand name “EBG Resistors”, can be found in many areas of power electronics. In electricity grids they ensure that energy is transferred with as little loss as possible and when parking electric cars, for example, they ensure that the voltage present is safely reduced.

The energy transition and the growth of e-mobility in particular resulted in an increasing demand for power electronics. The turnover of EBG (owned for 13 years by the Upper Austrian technology company Miba) increased from approximately 13 million euros in 2010 to approximately 37 million euros in the previous year.

St. Stefan branch closes
The area, which will more than double in size (from 3,000 to 6,300 square metres), will be used for production on the one hand and for research, sales and administration on the other. The expansion is expected to be completed in 1 to 1.5 years. “Due to the significantly increased available space, we can integrate our previous external production in St. Stefan im Rosental into the factory in Kirchbach. This not only saves time and organizational effort, it also reduces transport,” explains EBG director and plant manager Louis Klein.

The mayor of the market town of Kirchbach-Zerlach, Anton Prödl, was also pleased with the investment: “High-tech for the energy transition and for the mobility of tomorrow ensures growth and safe, future-oriented jobs. This also applies to rural areas, the Miba branch Kirchbach is the best example of this.”
