Details about the location-dependent climate bonus are there: Payout will not start until October. The money is available by bank transfer or voucher, no application is necessary. Detailed information will be sent to all households in June.
Due to the CO₂ pricing, refueling and heating will become even more expensive from July. As financial compensation, everyone receives a “climate bonus”. The responsible minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens): “I think it is important that this works well. That is why we have made a realistic plan, everything will be ready in October. Then the payout begins.”
July 3 deadline
The condition is that you have had your main residence in Austria from 3 July 183 days. There are four levels, depending on how well a community is connected to public transportation (see chart).
Examples: In Vienna everyone gets 100 euros, in Wels or Wiener Neustadt 133 euros, in Villach, Amstetten or Leibnitz 167 euros, in rural areas 200 euros. Children under 18 receive half each.
There are two variants:
- If the account details are known to the federal government, the money is simply transferred. This applies to everyone who uses B. FinanzOnline or receives a pension (according to Gewessler that is two-thirds of Austrians).
- Everyone else will receive a voucher by registered letter (RSa), which they can exchange at Bank 99 (Post) or in the shops.
