Local retailers are slowly preparing for Christmas activities. According to the current status, Billa, Billa Plus, Bipa and Penny will be closed on December 8 (Maria Empfängnis) – with the exception of locations with mandatory service – as well as Lidl. Hofer, Inter- and Eurospar and dm will keep their branches open – unlike last year.
“A look at the calendar speaks against a closure: compared to last year, December is two days shorter this year,” DM director Harald Bauer said in a statement.
They also want to “send a signal for a positive mood in the retail sector” and enable employees to earn an extra income.
Hofer will open its branches on December 8 with reduced opening hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All Interspar and Eurospar branches also remain open.
