There have already been four rounds of negotiations for the 2024 Metalworking Collective Labor Agreement. However, so far no success has been achieved and the social partners have only come a little closer. The union members threaten: without an agreement, the strikes will be extended if no agreement can be reached on Thursday.
The fourth round of negotiations on the collective labor agreement for metal workers ended last week – so far without an agreement. After warning strikes in the metal industry at the beginning of this week, an agreement must now be reached on Thursday – otherwise the strikes will be extended, as the unions have already announced.
The employers have made two offers
PRO-GE and GPA employee representatives continue to push for an 11.6 percent wage and salary increase. Two offers have been submitted by the employers. The first provided an increase of ten percent – spread over two years – and two one-off payments of 750 euros.
The second offer includes a wage and salary increase of 8.42 percent. This consists of a monthly fixed amount of 100 euros and a rate increase of 2.5. In addition, there is a one-off payment of 1050 euros.
However, unions describe the proposals as “vodoo math” with pitfalls. They then ended the round of negotiations last Thursday.
