Digital ID – ID Austria aims to accelerate business creation

Date:

You can also use the digital ID “ID Austria” online at the notary. A large number of notarial official procedures – from the certification of signatures or documents to declarations of power of attorney to real estate or company law matters – will be made much simpler and faster, according to the notarial company, which collaborates here with ID Austria. Notariteit already operates an online brokerage platform for notarial services.

“As a private partner of ID Austria, our web platform will now be even more user-friendly – and online notarial deeds will be made even easier and faster,” says notarial founder Jakobus Schuster. Anyone who has a full-featured ID Austria can now set up a company in Austria in less than ten minutes – regardless of whether it is a GmbH, a partnership or a future “flexible company” (FlexKap).

Basic version not sufficient
The current mobile phone signature, which expires on December 4, and the ID Austria in the basic function were not sufficient for online notary appointments, as the law requires a corresponding, high-security identification. The introduction of the fully functional ID Austria, which is considered an e-ID card, means that notarial services can be used without prior video identification.

In 2020, Austria adopted an amendment to the notarial regulations. “One in four Austrian notary offices now offers appointments online,” says Schuster. Based on the current legal situation, Austrian notaries can also issue internationally valid certificates online.
