As reported, there was a big fuss on Monday about a Spaniard (37) who fled from Weiz and was arrested by the police while he was on the run in Arnoldstein (Carinthia). He allegedly abused his girlfriend several times and threatened to kill her.
The 37-year-old has only been living in Styria since this year and has been in a relationship with a woman from Weizer (36) since this year. However, arguments soon broke out in the relationship, with the woman repeatedly abused and injured. The Spaniard is also said to have repeatedly threatened her with death out of jealousy.
Painful hematomas on the face
Last Sunday his girlfriend finally had enough and reported the incident to the police. Hematomas on her face are evidence of the physical altercation. However, the police did not find him again because he had already gotten into his car and fled. The search for him initially failed, but after a tip it became clear that he was on his way to Italy.
Refused statement
A patrol from the Carinthia-West police station was able to spot the getaway car on Monday and stopped him near Arnoldstein shortly before he left the country and arrested him without resistance. He has now been taken over by police officers from Weiz and transferred to Styria. However, when questioned, the suspect refused to make a statement. He remains in custody.
