Higher, faster, further: this is the motto under which athletes from all over the world will compete for medals and records at the Summer Olympics in Paris from July 26. In the US, a ‘modern’ new edition of the sporting event is being developed – a kind of Olympic Games without drugs and without controls. There are already prominent and financially strong supporters of the idea – including Kurz boss Peter Thiel.
‘Enhanced Games’ calls itself the ‘direct challenger’ to the Olympic Games, which aims to ‘celebrate the best of humanity and science’. But the event could have unforeseeable consequences for the athletes: the absurd competitions would have to be made possible without restrictions by anabolic steroids, steroids, erythropoietin (EPO) and other performance-enhancing drugs. The ‘enhanced games’ should be the first international sporting event without doping controls.
