Dogs communicate well with people. This was reported by the behavioral researcher Marianne Heberlein of the Wolf Science Center. She and her team asked 21 mixed breed and pedigree dogs for an attempt. Wurst was hung in one of the three boxes that were inaccessible for the four -legs friends.
The dogs could always view the owners in half of the cases. The result: the animals then showed the ignorant owners three times as often where the sausage was hidden than the expert. So the dogs, for example, duped the human partner with her nose and then ran to the box with the sausage or repaired with their eyes. The owner then went there and gave her dog the reward.
In another attempt, the owners hid a sausage in one of the boxes and went out. Then one of the other two women came in: the one had previously met the animals as “cooperative” because they gave them sausage. The other was a kind of competitor because she had eaten the treats before her eyes herself. The result: the 23 dogs showed the “cooperative” dual -double biped so often the box in which the sausage was. She avoided the costs for the other woman.
“Dogs can therefore understand the information value of their actions. The results of this study suggest that the dogs of the dogs go beyond the signaling of the object location,” the researchers wrote in the magazine “Frontiers in Psychology”. It is conscious communication that aims to influence the behavior of the partner.
