Costs rose sharply: the brewery was unable to pay wages for January

Date:

Three and a half years after the restructuring procedure was started for two companies behind the Grieskirchen brewery, the beer producer is again in trouble. Due to extremely increased costs, the wages of 34 employees could not be paid in January.

Energy costs rose enormously and packaging material also became more expensive: all this means that the Grieskirchen brewery is once again in trouble. Owner Marcus Mautner Markhof confirms “liquidity problems”.

They prevented the company from paying wages to its 34 employees in January. Mautner Markhof says they are working to resolve the issue, but that could take days or even weeks.

Went bankrupt in 2020 with more than eight million euros in debts
The brewery owner cannot rule out bankruptcy, but at the same time does not consider the chance very high at the moment. With debts of more than eight million euros, the two companies of the Grieskirchen brewery went bankrupt in the autumn of 2020. The beverage specialist then still had 61 employees.
