According to its own information, the listed Salzburg crane manufacturer Palfinger achieved a record operating result (EBIT) and a consolidated result in the first quarter of 2024. The operating result increased from 48.9 million euros in the same period last year to 54.7 million euros. The consolidated result increased to 32.5 million euros. Quarterly turnover fell by 2.2 percent to 578.5 million euros.
For the entire year, the crane manufacturer expects a slight decline in turnover compared to 2023 (2.45 billion euros) and an EBIT that is expected to be about 20 percent below the record year 2023 (210.2 million euros).
The largest growth region in North America
According to information, in the first quarter of 2024, Palfinger further increased profits in the largest growth region North America and increased production output for service cranes and aerial work platforms. In addition, the crane manufacturer in the maritime sector benefited from orders from offshore wind farm projects in Japan and Taiwan, among others.
In Europe, however, ‘macroeconomic and geopolitical upheavals’ continued to cause weak incoming orders, especially in the core European markets of Germany, France and Scandinavia. The Southern European countries, especially Spain and Portugal, continued to develop “very positively”.
